Your Virtual World
Supporting Communities and School Leaders to improve education in regional Australia.
The Mura Mirri Virtual Reality Initiative
This initiative launched in Term 2, 2024 with the support of our partners Australian Schools Plus and Airborne IT. Six schools in regional WA were chosen to be involved, including:
Halls Creek District High School
Onslow Primary School
Marble Bar Primary School
Tjuntjuntjara Remote Community School
Gascoyne Junction Remote Community School
Jigalong Remote Community School
Why Are We Doing This?
To support the implementation of a new and proven way to tackle existing problems, and positively address these together. Challenges that we want to work together to address include:
Improve student achievement
Student engagement and motivation
School attendance
Behaviour management
Engagement with the community
Parent involvement and input
Whole school approach that meets different contextual needs
First Nations culture preservation
Culturally responsive curriculum and learning
Our Approach
Innovative Learning: To build a STEAM-based program utilising Virtual Reality, drones and other technologies
Community Partnerships: We work with you to capture the voice and build sustainable, authentic relationships.
Purposeful & Engaging Learning: The initiative draws on your community’s culture, to create a culturally responsive curriculum that engages and motivates students.
Sustainable and Successionable: Using the CoE process, platform and coach to ensure that these changes are sustainable in the short, mid and long term.
How was Your Virtual World developed?
This initiative is inspired by the success in addressing these challenges in regional Australian schools. By integrating community, student and staff voices with Virtual Reality through a Two-Way STEAM learning framework, we are were able to successfully tackle the challenges faced by remote schools.
Moving forward, the Your Virtual World initiative aims to be scaled to many schools across Australia.
What is actually involved for schools and school leaders?
Your Virtual World is not more work for schools. We ensure the initiative is implemented in a way that is supports your objectives and is aligned with your current priorities.
For example:
Your Business Plan strategy and targets

The Process
We collaborate with you to build your way to address your school’s challenges. Next, we support you to develop a STEAM based two-way learning program to help you tackle these challenges and to engage and empower your community.
Airborne IT launches a ‘Virtual Classroom STEAM Way’ program, specifically tailored for your school. This brings the community and school vision to life, to successfully address your school priorities.
CoE provides support to help schools to build resilience and grow, to ensure the sustainability and succession of this work, so it can continue into the future.
